Newbie...looking for a home
Hi All,
This is my first time posting on the Long Island boards.
I have a question. DH & I are looking to move. He is currently working in Queens & we live all the way out in Port Jeff. We were thinking of meeting halfway and moving to somewhere in Nassau County. We were looking at Massapequa but a friend of mine said that there are some areas that are not that great in Massapequa. Does anyone know of some other areas that would fall into our requirements? We are looking for an area that is family friendly and has a good school district.?
Thanks in advance!!!?
Re: Newbie...looking for a home
Seaford is nice. not far from massapequa. if you do choose massapequa make sure you are in the massapequa school district. half of massapequa can be sent to Amityville district-stay away! just make sure you are in the Massapequa Park area.
have you looked on the north shore?
I know I'm late on this but I also think you should look at Merrick. The schools are wonderful and all around it is a nice place to live.
I lived in Merrick up until this past summer when I got married. Now I live in Bellmore. But I drove to Queens for college & for the last 3 years for work. The commute was not that bad. If you leave early enough, it's fine- usually only taking 30-40 minutes. On rainy/snowy days of course it's worse.
If your H is commuting to Queens from Port Jeff, from Merrick it will seem like nothing to him. I can't imagine commuting to Queens from that distance.
Good luck with the house search!
