My grandparents gave me a pair of diamond earrings for High School Graduation. In college I was at the mall and one of them fell out and I never found it. It's especially heart-breaking now as my grandfather has passed and my grandmother is in an advanced stage of Alzheimers, so it was the thing of most monetary value, as well as most sentimental value.
I still have the one remaining earring. I think I may buy one to match it, or have the remaining diamond made into something else.
I lost an amythyst necklace my hubby gave me for Valentine's Day last year. I was running around, doing errands and the chain broke and I lost the pendant.
I was so insanely sad. I felt like I let him down because I wasn't careful enough. He kept reassuring me it was okay. A few weeks later he surprised me by giving me the exact same necklace again. I just cried because it was so sweet.
I had an emerald cut sapphire ring (it was probably close to a carat size stone). I have no clue what happened to it - but one day I was looking for it and it was gone. I've moved twice since I lost it - so I'm sure it's long gone. I'm so sad because I loved that ring so much.
