Mini & Work Trip

So this week I found out I may be going on a work trip in DC. The meeting starts at noon on Sun (day after the Mini) and we'll fly out either late Sat or early Sun. I am a little torn about trying to do the mini then turning around and having a major work trip/meeting week and then that next Saturday graduating... Is it too much? Should I just rethink the mini and either a.) sell my space or b.) plan to do the 5k instead? and if so, try and run it?

I signed up to do the mini because I wanted to a.) get into a healthy routine b.) do something I thought I would never do and c.) take my mind off of school madness with a healthy activity. So if I did decide to do the 5k I would start training to run it which would meet all of the above because I am SOOOO not a runner and would never normally run 3.1 miles. Sooo... what do you ladies think? I know several of you have done it. I just know how wiped I was after the 5 miler (even after training) and I don't want to be a cranky zombie for a week in DC with national partners...

 TIA you ladies rock!

Re: Mini & Work Trip

  • I haven't done the mini and I now despise running, but I would do it - I mean, it sounds like you are only going to do it once and it's something you can say you did. Your colleagues should understand if you're a bit stiff/sore :P
Move along, nothing to see here.....
  • It depends on the individual but I definitely wouldnt have been in condition to travel the same day that I did the mini....I was BEAT afterwards and I walked it!!! :)  I trained for months beforehand and I did great at the race but it is SUCH a huge energy suck...afterwards my fingers had swollen to the size of sausages. :)  A 5K is definitely doable though, but I personally wouldnt be able to do a mini and then try to be productive afterwards. :)

FWIW I have a ticket to run the mini this year and I'm so bummed but I am going to have to go to Boston that weekend for work too so I wont be able to run....I'm probably going to sell it too.  Sniff.
