Might be finding work in San Diego...
My H is likely to get the opportunity to accept a promotion in San Diego within the next few years. He's very gung-ho about moving to the area (he's been out there on several business trips already...hates the cold and would love to move somewhere warmer), but I'm having a little trouble getting used to the possibility.
I'd really appreciate some insight from the San Diego nesties on what they do, and don't like about living out in this area...

Re: Might be finding work in San Diego...
Well I can tell you based on the perspective of someone born and raised in SD and moved 2 years ago to Minnesota.
What I love: the weather (I'm in MN now, talk about 2 extremes), the beach
What I don't like: traffic gets worse every year, the housing prices
We are moving out of MN this summer and if it were up to me I'd go back to SD because I miss my family and friends there so much. My DH lived out there for 4 years and never wants to move back. This is because he hates the lack of open space and that it's really hard to just get away from all of the people, not to mention the insane cost of buying a house. I think it really depends on your personality and whether or not that matters to you. We're likely going to end up in northern AZ, a compromise for both of us.

We moved here from North NJ in October. We love the weather (of course) and the lack of traffic. I always laugh when people complain about the traffic here. I guess they haven't driven in Midtown Manhattan or the Garden State Parkway recently. Many people from NJ worked in NYC, and had to get up at 5am so that they can be on the road by 6am to make it to work by 8. The city is 15-20 minutes away, yet it took close to 2 hours to get there. That's traffic.
The house prices are much lower than where we came from. Being so close to NYC, it was impossible to find a quality home for under $600k back in Jersey. Most were way over that. I guess it depends on where you're coming from. We find things in SD to be a lot cheaper than back home. I think the East Coast is more expensive than the West, but the West definitely pays less. Significantly less.
My only gripe is the unfriendliness of people. I thought I was the only one that felt this way, but there was recently a discussion about that on another San Diego board I post on and many newcomers agree that the locals are just not friendly. And depending on where you decide to live, you might have tourists in your neighborhood year round. We are 2 miles from La Jolla Shores and spend lots of time there. The tourists are everywhere. Might not bother some, but it gets annoying after a while, especially since they are here year round it seems.
