Couch25K gals...is this still going on?
So...the cold weather kind of zapped any plans I had for Couch25K. I am hoping that once it gets warmer I am more motivated to get out there and get going. Regardless, I have lost 10 lbs since January! I really think a big part of it is that we are eating more at home so I can control what goes in my food----whole wheat breads and pastas, etc. AND if we do go out to eat the cost conscious part of me comes out, and I usually share half my food with DS. Especially at places like Olive Garden where they give you WAY more food than you need. So it really does help to watch your portions.
Re: Couch25K gals...is this still going on?
I fell out of it back in January when we joined Cross Fit... Doing CF will essentially get your body ready for a 5k, but it's SO EFFING EXPENSIVE here in Birmingham that we decided that it wasn't feasible. Now I'm going to try to get back in the saddle since we ended up getting a gym membership.
That is wonderful that you have lost weight!!! Jason and I gave up eating out for lent, so hopefully that will help us as welll. What kind of foods do you cook?
I gained 7 lbs doing CF, but I lost about an inch and a half in my waist (this is only in one month!)... But I've gone soft AND I've gained weight since we quit, and that is so annoying to me. The icing on the cake is that we're going to the beach this summer with friends, so now I HAVE to get my butt in gear. LOL.
DH and I split meals a lot of the time when we go out... Especially at mexican restaurants. It's so much more cost-conscious and I feel so wasteful if I order one of those huge combo plates or a fajita by myself... you know?
I feel you on this one! We are going on two beach trips this year, one of them with our best friends who just had a baby. And she has a better body that me right now and she just had her baby 3 weeks ago! I've got to get busy!!
yay for losing!!!! that's great girls. I wish I could say the same, I know my clothes fit better but I refuse to look at a number on a scale.
If only I could be well, the weather would cooperate, etc, but I plan on getting back into gear as we'll be walking A LOT in Italy and we're going to the beach for the 4th.
Where is that??! I want to do it!
Well, I worked up to 2 miles back in January but I suck at it. lol I don't run alot now because my shoes are 2 years old and they give me problems, soif we get a decent tax return I'm going to use some of that to buy some new running shoes and then I'll start back up again. I haven't lost alot of weight but I'm probably losing inches. My trainer is going to measure me this week so I can see where i"m starting. I just want to try not to focus on the scale so much and more on losing inches and how my clothes feel. I also eat 5 or 6 small meals a day and I don't eat alot of fried foods.
I would be interested in the Art Walk 5K as well.

I'm not doing the C25K but I have been running and trying to get faster. I'm doing another 5k in April.

I am not that great of a cook...DH is MUCH better than I am...plus at night we really just don't have it in us to get really creative so we stick to some easy basics...fish tacos on whole wheat tortillas, whole wheat pasta with pasta sauces with veggies, baked chicken w/ brown rice, low fat cheese quesadillas on whole wheat tortillas, etc. We also have stopped cooking with ground beef all together and only use ground turkey for things like chili, meatloaf, etc. I am looking for diff. recipes so anything anyones has, send it along!
I would love to be able to do the 5K but not sure I will be there by then. I mentioned we first started C25K, I hate running. I really do. So...
