Insurance: Now I'm worked up
After reading all the hullabaloo about PennDOT knowing my insurance lapsed I'm in a lather.
I hate trying to straighten stuff out. I only was cancelled as of 2/25 so it hasn't been long, and the car has been in the shop for the past month. Do you think a letter from the repair shop would be sufficient to nip it in the bud paired with the tow receipt to get it to the shop in the first place?
I used to work with PennDOT at my former job getting the online messengers running and approved so I am all to familiar with the nuttiness that is PennDOT. Booooo.
Oh what I have to look forward to.
Re: Insurance: Now I'm worked up
First, is your car still financed? The was the main reason PennDot found out. Our other car was paid off and they didn't do anything about that one.
I"m not sure about your situation and PennDot. With ours, it was a screw up on the insurance providers part. PennDot wouldn't even take a letter written by them syaing it was their fault. Needless to say, The person I had on the phone at PennDot got called every name I could think of in English and Spanish.
I think it is also tied to the financing of the car so I'm not sure who contacted PennDot. So while we were suppopse to send in the plate...um...we never did...we just drove without current registration. bad,I know. But really only bad if you get caught.
Then 6 months later, we got a letter from then saying that our 6 monhts was up and we were good to go. We also got a letter saying there was an issue and we would receive our registration later...umm.. maybe cause they couldn't find the plate? We never did get a sticker;just a letter. And since Dh has been in Texas for 4 of the 6 months he wasn't suppose to have a plate, we haven't really worried about it. We just hope it isn't an issue when we go to get the Texas plate/registration. ALthough we have seen many cars with way expired registrations from other states, too.
