AW: I finally did it!

I've worked out only a little bit (and I really mean a little bit) at home over the past year, but yesterday I finally went to the gym (for the second time since I got my membership last August Embarrassed)!  My left arm and leg have been hurting this past week, and I've been worried about blood clots b/c of the type and location of the pain in my leg.  My total cholesterol level is just over 200, which is the max for all your cholesterol types, although by bad (HDL) levels were within normal range.  The total shouldn't be over 200 and I know my LDL could be better but I think it's my triglycerides that are high.  Anyway, it finally hit me that I have got to get off my lazy but and get my body in a better place, not just for me but pregnancy sometime in the near or far future.  I've got ovarian cysts, uterine fibroids, asthma, scholiosis, family history of high blood pressure, and thyroidism - too many reasons to be lazy!  Anyway, I went to a class at the gym and loved it!  At first I wondered if I could make it the entire 55 minutes, but I took a puff of my inhaler before starting and I did it!  I felt so good afterwards, ate some Cheerios (for my cholesterol), went to bed at 9:30, and woke up feeling more comfortable than I've been in a long time. I don't feel super tired this morning unlike I usually do.  I'm so happy that I did something for myself and DH was so proud of me.  He's been really worried about me because I always feel so tired.  I think this time I'll really keep it up!

  • Good for you!   Party!!! I wish every young woman reading this would realize that NOW is the time to take care of yourself ,while you are young. It will help so much as you get older.  I wish I had done the same thing at your age.
  • Thanks!  I should say I did not only eat cheerios for dinner.  I ate a bowl of cheerios and a small portion of enchilada casserole w/ light sour cream.  Then I realized how much cheese I ate so I ate another, larger bowl of cheerios.  Then just ate oatmeal for breakfast.  I am not dieting, but want to be conscious of what I'm eating. If anything I want to gain a little weight with muscle-building.
  • Good for you!  When I first started working out about 10 months ago, I couldn't even do ten minutes of cardio without thinking I was going to die.  Now, I am really pleased with my current level of fittness.  I just wish I could start eating better.

    Keep up the good work!

I really love health and fitness blogs, they keep me motivated.  Here are a couple of my favorites.

  • Congrats girl! I know how it feels to go back to doing something after a long time. I feel the same way everytime I step in a dance class.
  • Good for you! I want to start getting into better shape before I have a baby.
