another doctor request from a newbie
hi everyone!
We've been here for 4 weeks now, and we're really really enjoying it. I had posted a while back asking for some doc recs, and now I have more....
I'm looking for a dermatologist, a dentist and a gynecologist....
We live in Hancock Park and I work downtown, so ideally somewhere sort of in that vicinity-we have Aetna Open Access insurance...
On an unrelated note, we've yet to go out for drinks anywhere-any suggestions on where to go near us-we're looking for low-key...
Thanks so much!
Re: another doctor request from a newbie
Hi!
Weren't you originally from PA??
I think we've chatted on other boards.
I live in the hancock park area too.
I have a good gyn at cedars. Can't help with a dentist though.
Larchmont village is super cute to hang out and chill. Its on beverly right after rossmore/vine st
Yep originally from Philly! Can I get the name of your gyn?
We actually can walk to Larchmont-we live sort of on the border. It's adorable! Have you eaten at Prado or Girasole? Opinions on them?
We went to Chan Dara with some friends, and found it sort of....meh.
wow, we must live really close!
I live walking distance too.
We should meet up. I'm out of town this coming weekend, but maybe next weekend??
Girasole is super yummy. You need a reservaton on the weekends though because of how small it is. Their prices are really reasonable. I think 10-15 a plate. The pasta is freshly made. They also let you bring your own wine bottles, which rocks!
I love Prado. Everytime I go though, I order their scallop special and dh orders their seafood risotto special. We've actually never ordered off the menu cuz we always get their specials of the day. They have really really good sangria.
Chan dara is a chain restaurant, and its okay but not amazing.
The absolute best restaurant on the block in my opinion is Le Petit Greek. You'll notice is always super busy. Reservations for fri or sat night are a must. The family that runs the restaurant are from santorini, greece. The food is authentic greek. (not hummus/falafaels) Its rack of lamb, exotic fish, lots of olive oil. Their feta cheese is to die for. They have a tyropita appetizer. If you like feta I highly recommend it! The dishes are in the 20-30 a plate range, but we LOVE to go here on special occasions. Birthdays or when parents visit, etc.
Also if you like sushi, Kiku that is on the corner of beverly next to noah's bagels is by far one of the best little sushi restaurants we've ever been to. We eat there often. The owners are so nice, and they usually give us edamme, miso soup, and sometimes a roll on the house. Their fish is ridiculously fresh and i'm not sure what they do to their eel, but i've never had eel that good anywhere else.
Village pizza is also good if you just want some pizza. Its always super packed. Its authentic brooklyn (ny) style pizza. The super thin crust. Its really yummy pizza. Its a bit pricey, but tastes so much better than the chains.
OH, sorry! my doctor. He is AWESOME! A bunch of my co-workers go to him. We were skeptical about seeing a guy, but he's so nice and easy to talk to. He has pics of his kids and wife all over his office and is just so laid back you instantly like him and dont feel weird talking to him.

OB/GYN-

He's great. His office is at LaPeer and Wilshire. He delivers at Cedars.
Oddly, though, I read that JLo used him as her LA based OB/GYN with her twins. I heard that this affected his office by making it hard to get in as a new patient. If you can get in, he's really great.
