First Anniversary idea needed!!

Hi,

My 1st wedding anniversary isn't until September but we are looking to do something special, elegant but on somewhat of a budget.  We'd like to go out of town for the weekend but not travel more than 4 hours or so.

Does anyone have a suggestion, know of a place or heard of somewhere romantic that's not too far from the St. Louis area?

Thanks,

Jennifer

  • For our first anniversary we went to a bed and breakfast in Ste Genevieve.
  • What about going to one of the wineries? You could stay at a B&B. So much fun!?

  • I second a B&B. We stayed in the Virginia Seedling room at the Hermann Hill B&B, for our 1st Anny weekend and I highly recommend!

  • Great idea's!!  Here's the problem:  We do that all summer long, we LOVE going to wineries!  We go to at least 3-4 different wineries with our group of friends each summer.  We go to Ste., Gen, Augusta and Hermann a couple times a year.  Usually, we all chip in and rent a house or B&B so we all don't have to drive back after the wine tasting.  Also, my cousin is actually getting married AT Hermann Hill in October.  Since we're part of the wedding party, we'll be staying there for the weekend.

I need something ritzy, something fancy and romantic.  We want to be able to be secluded for the most part but get dressed up really classy and go out for a fancy-schmancy dinner.

I like the B&B idea, we usually try to get away and do that once or twice a year.  Anyone been to one that's just outta sight??

    Thanks for the idea's!

    Jen

  • What about going to Kansas City, staying on the Plaza at a nice hotel, and going out to dinner there?

  • How about The Elms, just outside KC?  A friend of mine recommended it for our first, but we dedided not to go that far.

  • What about downtown St. Louis... dinner at the Top of the Riverfront - Millennium (revolving restaurant), if I recall correctly, they have a live pianist for dancing or go to a jazz and blues club and then take a romantic carriage ride around downtown St. Louis. You can find carriages waiting in front of The Old Spaghetti Factory on historic Laclede's Landing and in front of Adam's Mark Hotel on 4th and Chestnut Street.
