We're going to visit our friends in San Diego in a month or so. They haven't had a date night alone, out of the house without the kids, since both of their kids were born since they don't have family nearby. We want to not only watch their kids for the evening but give them a gift certificate to a great restaurant. Can you please help us by recommending one?
The couple is very down to earth. Before they had kids, they did like dressing up but not super fancy. They like good food in a nice atmosphere but they aren't into the over the top, high end type of atmosphere. I can picture them loving either a seafood or an Italian restaurant that is cozy where the wait staff is super friendly and the food is good.
I know San Diego is huge so I'm think anything between Mira Mesa to downtown (Coronado Island is okay too). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Re: San Diego restaurant recommendation please!
we loved this place in pacific beach. it's right on the boardwalk, so great oceanview!

i also think it's very sweet of you guys to do this for your friends! have fun while you're here.
That is a great place!! I LOVE the atmosphere, and they have yummy food!
Also, you might want to check into the Cohn Restaurant Group gift cards. They are a local family that owns many well-known restaurants in the SD area (downtown, Balboa Park, Harbor Island) and that way, they can choose which restaurant they want to go to.

PS-I remember you from the NorCal board-hi!
