what to do when my mom comes to visit?
my mom is going to be visiting next friday-tuesday. she'll be back for longer in july with my dad, but i'm trying to think of some fun things for me and dh to do with her.
so far, we're thinking griffith park (i haven't been yet), santa monica pier, pink's hotdogs, maybe walk of fame stuff?
What else? also, where should we take her for food? delicious restaurant recs?
Thanks!
Re: what to do when my mom comes to visit?
What type of person is your mom?
What does she like to do?
Is she the active outdoorsy type? Hiking in Santa Monica mountains or rent bikes at Venice Beach
Lover of culture? Go to any of the museums here. I have a recent entry about the Getty on my blog. That's a definite crowd pleaser
Traditional? Have lunch at the Tea House in the Huntington Gardens
Likes entertainment? Take one of those bus tours that take you to all the Hollywood hotspots
A trip to the LA Farmers Market/Grove would be a lot of fun too. Plenty of places to eat and then shop next door at the Grove. www.lafarmersmarket.com
Just be aware that Pinks usually has at least a 45 minute wait. It is yummy, but just expect to be in line.

Olivera Street, it is kind of neat.
Dodger Stadium....j/k. I remember you :0)
The other places mentioned are fantastic..
My mom was in town last week and here are a few things we did:
--went to the Hungintgon Gardens, looked around and had tea at the tea room
--drove down to Palos Verdes and went to the Point Vincente Lighthouse
--went to the San Juan Capistrano mission and ate lunch at a great restaurant in Laguna Beach
My Food Blog
I was just thinking this for when my mom and dad come in May.
My mom has been out several times and she enjoyed:
The Queen Mary; the typical Hollywood stuff; Union Station, Olivera Street, Phlippe's; Beverly Hills/Rodeo; Drove to Santa Barbara for the day; Catalina
I'm thinking with my dad (he enjoys different stuff) is possibly driving out to Simi and going to the Reagan Library, Will Rogers Museum in Santa Monica, maybe a train ride from Union Station to Old Town Pasadena. I live by Sony, so we might try to do a walking tour or Wheel of Fortune.
