Our situation is this:
Okay, this is the deal; DH and I wanted to go to Europe for our honeymoon but it was just too expensive and so we ended up going to Cancun (still lovely) and decided for our 5 year anniversary we would go to Europe. Our anniversary is in May and this year we had decided instead to visit my sister and her family living in Toronto to a.) save money and b.) because I wanted more vacation time saved for Europe (I ended up going to Honduras last year to complete an internship and burned a lot of time in the process) and c.) of course see my sister and family because we miss them like mad. Well, it looks like they are moving back to the states a little earlier than expected so we decided to look into other places to go. We ran across some decent deals and narrowed it down to Vegas, Honduras, and Niagra. Then we were talking today and were wondering if we waited until fall would it a.) be cheaper to go to Europe? b.) I will have more time accrued and c.) we could save some additional money and do a few more things, etc... and if we couldn't find a deal in the fall for Europe just go to Honduras or Vegas or Niagra then... how does that sound??? I guess I need advice/thoughts on if it will be better/cheaper to wait until fall for Europe as opposed to May and any thoughts in general on our little plan. Oh, and we'd like to go to London, Amsterdam, and maybe Paris... okay.. thoughts are welcome!!!!
Re: XP from Travel Board - Travel Advice
Honestly, I'd go to Vegas or Niagra and wait on Europe.
I frequently go to the UK, and it is CRAZY expensive right now. ?The dollar is weak and airfares are up. Paris and London are the most expensive as far as food and hotels. ?In Paris, pizza and diet coke was pushing 65 dollars. ?It's ridiculous. ?I recommend getting an apartment in London, as hotels are also stupid expensive.
IMO, enjoy your anniversary and save some money for an awesome Europe trip later when conditions are better all around.
?If you do decide to go to Europe, let me know.. I'll be more than happy to help you with hotels, things to do, etc. ?You know how to get ahold of me ?
You should go to Europe with us
We were planning on going this fall for our "honeymoon/anniversary" (since we didn't get to take one and decided 5 years would be a good time for a huge vacation), but then the *** hit the fan with my career, so it's on hold for a bit.
Have you piddled around on http://www.europeandestinations.com/ ?
I guess I would go somewhere close and cheap and then save up even more for the European trip.
I've seen some pretty good deals to Vegas and I'm betting that they are just going to get better. Vegas is a luxury location and as people cut luxuries, Vegas hotels/casinos are going to try everything they can to bring people to town.
