How many of you guys are going to the SOUTHSIDE IRISH PARADE???

I was just curious to see how many of you guys are planning on going to the parade? for those of you who dont know what it is.... Its a HUGE parade on the southside of chicago. beverly/mount greenwood area. Its every year on the sunday before st. paddy's day. I've live a block away from it all my life & just recently moved away & hate that im not that close anymore. I am still going dont get me wrong but i loved not having to drive & not having to look for a parking spot since at about 8:30 the whole neighborhood is jam packed. but its such a great day really who would miss it??

  • I will be there.  It is something that I never miss.  I use to live in that area (like 2 blocks away) but my family moved when I when I was in second grade to the suburbs.  Still have friends that live over in that area.
  • We might be heading over there this year.  I have a few friends that live in the area and their families always have huge parties all day long--the parade is tons of fun too :)
  • We went one year and didnt see the point to it. Maybe it was just too crowded for us so we havent been back.

  • I've never gone. DH and I talked about going this year, but he signed up to do a half marathon, so I'll be watching that instead.

OMG I went a few years ago and will never go again!  I had a terrible experience.  Cold, wet, portapotties and couldn't even get into a bar.  Would rather stick around our hood.

  • It's a tradition I hate to miss. The parade is a really fun time and if you don't see the point or enjoy yourself, it's really because it's something you haven't grown up with. It's a south side tradition and the diehards are people who have grown up going and come back every year no matter where they live. Of course, the biggest downside is that if you drive you might as well park in Tinley and walk the rest of the way; you can't park there past 8:30 like pp said.
  • I've lived on the south side of Chicago my whole life, but I've never actually been to the parade.  Unfortunately, we can't go this year, but maybe we can try for it next year!
