Going to the Keys

for my first time on the weekend of the 20th. I'm so excited. I have never been down there, and the IL's are letting us take their camper and boat. DH just called and told me. I guess there are 20 people or more going down for one of our friends Bday.

What is there to see and do down there? I'm not sure which part we are going to. Hopefully I can get in some much needed tanning time with the girls. :)

Re: Going to the Keys

  • Oh how much fun!  I love the Keys.  What area are you staying at?  You going all the way down to KW?  If staying in Isla Morada area, I've heard the Tiki Bar is fun (I've never really gone, just docked around it on Memorial).  If Sundowners is near the house, I highly recommend for lunch or dinner... perferably dinner to watch the sunset.

  • Are you going down to Key West? One of my favorite places to visit is Ernest Hemingway's home. It's so pretty, very Key West, and all of the 6 toed cats are walking around.
  • DH just told me he thinks Key Largo. We are following some friends down so he doesn't know forsure. lol
  • When we got to Key Largo we usually just stay at the hotel the whole time, so I can't really tell you too much about what there is to do out there LOL!

But I do know that there is an awesome breakfast place there off the main road, but I don't remember what it's called. It's a small place but the locals love to go there, so ask around. They make pancake stacks the size of your head!

  • You should check out John Pennekamp. They have snorkeling tours, and a park, with a cute beach and stuff :) The Tiki bar is not TOO far... so I would check that out too :)

     How fun!!!

  • Have a great time!! I have never been down there so I have no clue :)
  • Very cool that you're going. When you get back, let me know how it was. I'm going for my first time the last week of July.  A group of us are renting some beach houses for a week.  Can't wait!

Thats what most of them are doing (renting houses).  We are camping in the yard by the beach.  We are kind of add on's. lol  I will let you know how it is.

The tiki bar and a local restrant, sounds like my kind of place. lol

  • I used to live in KW when DH was stationed there, so if you're going there I can offer a little help :)

I love the keys, have fun!!
