How should I handle this?

I think I girl that was temp help in my office stole me North Face rain coat. I love love that jacket! I left it hanging on my chair at work one day, and the next day it was gone. (She was laid off the day I left my jacket) What should I do? Should I call her and ask her did you take my jacket? or just let it go? Its really bothering me and I want it back, and don t really want to drop another $100 and the dang jacket. What should I do?

Re: How should I handle this?

  • Maybe if y'all are ok w/ each other, you could call her up and ask if she saw it or something to that effect.  Say it has sentimental value (someone very special gave it to you and it reminds you of them).

  • She was just temp help so I have not seen her since the last day she was here at work. I have video here at the office, but have not gone through the trouble of actually watching it. It just really pisses me off to be honest with ya.
  • Hummm, do you expect a thief to tell the truth? Watch the video. If you actually see her do it then call her. Tell her you think she took your jacket by mistake. When she denies it, and she probably will, tell her you have it on video tape and will be happy to send her a copy. Then tell her if she will box it up and mail it to you that you will let it drop right there, otherwise you will file a police report. Then follow through. If she keeps getting by with things like this she will pay a steeper price on down the road. Would I take my own advice? I don't know...but it's really your only option at this point if you want it back. Don't expect someone who steals to tell the truth when asked about it...be sure you know she did it before you do anything. Watch the tape.
