Lighting stores?

After buying a couple of light fixtures online that just didn't workout I'd like to try and find some interesting light fixtures locally.  Can anyone recommend a place or a lighting designer?

I'm looking for some fixtures for a dining room and kitchen island area.

TIA!

Re: Lighting stores?

  • this may not be much help, but i always go to lamp plus for mr. boss man.  they have thousands of lamps.  i think the closes though is in dallas.  not sure if you travel there or not.  they also have on and plano and another one, but can't think where right now.

  • I've been looking for some lighting, too, and haven't had much luck. The ones I know of are Lighting Inc (Blanco & Lockhill-Selma behind the Valero), Richardson Lighting & Boyd's Lighting (both on San Pedro inside 410). There may have been a third lighting store on San Pedro now that I think about it, but I'm not sure. They were all pretty close together. Please let me know if you find any other ones!

  • I just passed a lighting store yesterday on Blanco just north of 410.  I can't remember the name of it, but it was on the corner on the shopping center and it was very obvious.

  • Most of the light stores are around that San Pedro/410 area.  There's another on 281 just north of there too.  Just FYI, I've noticed that nearly all of these light stores close by like 5 even on Saturdays and are typically closed on Sundays.  I don't know about you, but that makes it pretty difficult for me to find time to go to them.
  • I saw another one yesterday on 410 (I think around the Vance Jackson exit) called Turney Lighting. I didn't get a chance to go in, but there was a sign saying they had a sale going on.
