What's your favorite restaurant?

DH and I are looking to try something new. We go to a new place every week and want something different.  We have no price limits and will try anything.  We would prefer a place that's between downtown and La Jolla, so no Del Mar or anything that far north.  So far in the last few weeks we've been to Prado, Crescent Heights Kitchen & Lounge, Humphrey's, George's in La Jolla, Azul in La Jolla and Island Prime. Any other suggestions? TIA!

Re: What's your favorite restaurant?

  • DH took me to NOBU ( at the Hard Rock Hotel) for Vday, it's  asian "inspired".  It was kinda pricey and some of the items on the menu make you go "??" But the food was incredible.

Also, Kobe Shogun  ( i think it's off the 805?) is really good. It's similar to Benihana's, but you dont need to have the show to enjoy the Food. The original Shogun is up in Pasadena ( where i'm from!), and the quality is amazing.  Food Type: Japanese/Asian   Price:Moderate/High (depends what you order)

    There's my two cents! =o)

  • In Del Mar, start out at happy hour at Epazote ($5 margarita shakers, and other drinks!) and then walk over to Sbicca for dinner.

After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!

  • I cant say its a fav, cuz Ive only been there once so far, but Osteria Romantica in La Jolla... very yummmy! http://www.osteriaromantica.com/

  • I forgot to add Nobu to the list of places we went to. Neither one of us liked it. Then again, we hated the one in South Beach, so not even sure why we bothered to try this one.

Osteria Romantica looks pretty good! Thanks for the rec!

  • I love Greek food and my fave Greek place is Athen's Market Taverna in downtown.
  • I don't really have a favorite, but I like the following, for:

    Burgers - Rocky's in PB
    Italian - Arriverderci in Hillcrest
Baja-style lobster (and guacamole!) - Ortega's in Hillcrest
Kebabs, etc. - Darband Fifth Avenue Grill (their eggplant stew is yummy!)

  • We love Wine Vault. They have a really cool Saturday night tasting menu with wine pairings. All the info is on their website at www.winevaultbistro.com. Such a cool atmosphere too.

We also enjoyed Old Venice in Point Loma. Great food, good service, romantic atmosphere.

  • Hash House A Go Go in Hillcrest!  Breakfast is awesome, but dinners are fabulous too!
