Wisdom teeth sure are a pain!!!

Does anyone know of a good oral surgeon near Independence, MO?  Hell, I'd go to Nebraska if it meant a good one!  Give me a recommendation, please.  I'm new to this wisdom tooth thing.

Thanks!

Carman

Re: Wisdom teeth sure are a pain!!!

  • I recommend Dr. Solano (816.525.8660). He is in Lee's Summit, off Chipman and 50. I had all of my wisdom teeth pulled in 2005. They put me to sleep for it. Two of mine were impacted and he showed me the xrays and what he had to do, afterwards. He was a nice guy and did good work. :)
  • I need to get my wisdom teeth out as well, but am so scared. I have never been put to sleep before. Ladies... was your experience generally speaking, a good one?

  • Mine was not bad at all, considering. I only had 3 of the 4, but two had to be surgically removed because they were below the surface. I was swollen for a few days, ate pudding, apple sauce and soup for about a week or so, but it wasn't so bad. I went back to work (I was a nannny at the time) after two days.

My experience was not so great- I won't go into it to spare you the details, but most of that was due to the fact that my body doesn't do well with anesthesia. I was swollen, too!

Each person has such a different experience. Some people are up and eating that evening and have minimal swelling.

  • Yuck! I am supposed to get my wisdom teeth pulled as well. Actually I only have three and they are all down really deep so I really dont want to have them done. My dentist keeps telling me I should because it will be easier to do it now then when I am older and they really are a problem. I have aslo been told by a previous dentist that they probably will never bother me they are that deep. I think I may let them sit and see if those wisdom teeth make me any smarter. :-)

  • My experience wasn't bad at all. Actually, I lost 13 lbs within a week after (since you can only eat certain things) and it jump started my weight loss. :)

So, the worst part for me, was the anesthesia side effects. I was vomiting for the rest of the day. Once that was done, I got paranoid about getting a dry socket. All of them healed nicely though. I never got a dry socket (when the blood clot falls out and exposes the bone and causes excruciating pain). Trust me, if I can do it, anyone can. I have a low tolerance to pain. :-/
