Belated book discussion- Year of Fog

I had forgotten to start a thread on March's book, so here it is...a little belated. I know a few people said they had started it, so what did you think?

I liked the first half, and some of the repeated refrains ("this is what happened") could be powerful and showed how she kept reliving those moments. But it kind of dragged in the middle, and the climax seemed way too far-fetched and unrealistic to be really satisfying.

  • I enjoyed the book, but I agree with your analysis. I also thought that the climax was a little farfetched - and the fact that he wouldn't even talk to her afterwards was really outrageous.

I'd be interested in a discussion of the protagonist and the fiance (can't remember either of their names of course). Their relationship just didn't seem plausible. I wasn't convinced in the first place - I don't think that the author sold the relationship at all.

  • I agree completely-I kept reading chapter after chapter of her wandering around beaches wondering when something was going to happen.

And I totally didn't buy her and the fiance either-it's like she was in love with the idea of their family and what they could have. I kept wanting her to be with Nick. (Funny that you said that Christy, I can't remember either of their names, but I remember Nick's...)

Interesting book. It had a different writing style, which I liked.
