Edward and Bella said they wanted to, but Edward is afraid because he doesnt want to hurt her. Since he is very strong he doesnt know if he will be able to control himself enough not to become to rough and hurt her physically.
Mel-
That's exactly my point...is it going to be that way forever, at least as long as she remains human? She will have to become a vampire to ever have a more sexual/romantic relationship with Edward. I would think that risk of losing control would exist forever??!

I'm completely against it (but then I like Jacob the best anyway.....)
They were going to try it after they get married, before she turns into a vampire, I believe.
Christy-I'm not sure if I'm "for" her becoming a vampire, but I think it sure would make the book very interesting, and I kind of want it to happen just to see where it goes. And I love Edward-not a Jacob fan. If she does not become a vampire then it is really the end of Bella and Edward-I don't see how they can have a real relationship otherwise. She would be an 80 year old woman with an 18 year old boyfriend. Plus, they would forever have to live in fear of him biting her, hurting her, her being in danger, etc.
Meyers has two very obvious places that she can take the 4th book-either Bella becomes a vampire and we get to see some of how that plays out, or she changes her mind and goes with Jacob...
I will be interested to see where Meyer takes it in the 4th book. I think it will be interesting to see if, when push comes to shove, if the feelings of overwhelming teenage love for Edward is really enough for her to sacrifice both the hope of ever doing the normal human things (having kids, growing old) and also her devotion to her parents. Bella's been the one who's taken care of both of her parents in day-to-day life and protected them from things, and I'm not sure if she's going to be able to give that up to become a vamp... or if she'll regret it if she does. She would have to cut off contact with them while she adjusts to her vampiness, and then there's only so many visits home she can make before even the least observant dad will wonder why she looks like she hasn't aged a day in 10 years...
