Do you have electric heat?

I'm desperately looking to compare our electric bill with someone else.  We put in a new "energy efficient" unit in June and this winter our bills have been horrible.  They've been 100.00 higher than any of our bills have been in the last three years.  I know that we've had a cold winter, but.....I used a reputable company to install our heat pump and we had nothing but problems for the first two weeks so I question if they've done everything right.

If you have electric heat and the important thing is having no gas back up!!  We are completely electric!Would you mind sharing your electric bill for February.  We keep our house cold at 62 degrees and we have about 2100 square feet.  Insallation is good.   I'd appreciate any and all estimates.

Thanks!

Re: Do you have electric heat?

  • Shoot, and here I was wishing ours was electric....with bills up around $230 a month for gas it's killing us. Too bad we're in a rental that has zero insulation. I'm praying this warmer weather hangs around for a while.
  • we have electric...just moved into our house...can't be much help as we haven't gotten our bill yet but the ppl who lived here before had bills that ranged from $150 to $215 (in january) it probably had something to do with the fact that the unit was way too small for a 1800 sq ft house (1 1/2 ton unit when it should've been 3 1/2 ton).
  • We have electric, but we also have a small house (1200 sq ft). Our bills during the winter ranged from $100-$130. We just had a new unit put in last summer.
