Know of any jobs??

I have decided that after this school year is over I need to take a break from teaching. I have lost the passion for teaching that I once had and I dont think it is fair to my students or myself to continue on. Since there are only two months left of the school year I decided now would be a good time to begin my search. Obviously I want something out of the education field and I would like to work with adults. I love having tasks that keep my busy and but I dont necessarly enjoy always sitting behind a computer. I live in LS and would rather not spend a lot of time in the car commuting, but I would be willing to have maybe a 20 minute commute or so. If you know of any jobs out there or can offer any advice that would be wonderful. Thanks for any help you can offer.

  • I don't really know of anything available other than Brett's old job at the hospital! :) Not really what you are looking for though!

Good luck with your search, I know you will find something soon!!

  • try the job search on www.kcphilnet.org, it's a great search engine for jobs in the KC metro area.
  • You probably don't want to drive this far but there are administrative job openings at Children's Mercy.  You could check on their website.

  • I don't know if your district has anything like this, but our district and some of the districts in the KC metro area might have things like academic coaches, where you get to go into schools and work with the teachers on their curriculum and new ways to teach things. Didn't know if you might be interested in that-you'd be working with the teachers instead of the kids, which might be nice.

  • Hey Melissa!  My old job is going to be neeeding a replacement, I think.  I was the admin asst. to an accounting firm before going full time realtor.  It's in Corporate Woods, so again not sure if you want that drive or not.  And it does entail playing on the internet all day long behind a desk!  But thought I'd throw it out there for you to make the decision!  Let me know.....
  • My job is looking to hire another caseworker.  Not sure if you're interested in something like this or not, but it's definitely something interesting everyday!  I work for the Kansas City Metropolitan Crime Commission in a program called MCSP.  You can check out more info on what we do at kc-crime.org.  You'd be going to court as well as seeing clients in the office so you're not always stuck at your desk.  We're located in mid-town KC, but it would pretty much be a straight shot west for you.  Let me know if you're interested and  I can  give you  the info you'd need to fax your resume to my boss!
  • Rach,

I just graduated in December and the opening you described sounds perfect.  Would you mind emailing me the information at blwalker06@gmail.com? TIA

  • Thanks everyone for your help. Hopefully the job search wont take me too long!
