My husband and I have never been to LA, and we are going for three nights in May. We want to be able to walk to tourist sites from our hotel. Any advice on the best area? So far we are thinking of these three hotels in West Hollywood: The London West Hollywood, Hotel Le Petit and Chamberlain West Hollywood. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
Also, how long do you think it will take to drive from Las Vegas to LA the Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend? What is the drive like (pretty, scary, etc)?
Thanks so much.
Re: LA Travel Advice Needed
l.a. is not a walking city like nyc is. ?you'll be able to walk to a few things from the hotels that you're looking at, but to get the most out of your visit you're really going to need a car. ?taxis aren't a great option, either, btw. ?what tourist sites are you hoping to visit?
coming home on sunday when monday is a holiday might not be too bad as most will be heading home the next day. ?the drive is typically 3ish hours, and it's a boring ass drive. ?not much to see at all. ?but the end is usually worth it ?
Ditto Wan, you really need to rent a car. There is so much to do and see that is out of walking distance.
Most will be coming back on that Monday morning or night, which will make your drive pretty good.
The Las Vegas drive should take you about 5 hours if you're driving normally... it's through the Mojave desert which some may describe as barren wasteland, but I think it's rather peaceful in its sparseness. You'll see Joshua Trees. There are several diners and kitchy places to stop along the way.
Like everyone said, you'll need to drive to reach various communities.
