DH and I have recently decided that we need to take a "last trip" before trying for a baby. Does anyone have any good ideas for short vacations (3 or 4 days) for under $1000 including airfare? We like about anything - hiking, beaches, tours, ATV riding, amusement parks, relaxing, etc.
Re: Vacation under $1000?
One of my coworkers just went on a 4 day cruise through Carnvial that was about $400 bucks a person including airfare. I'm not sure if she went through a travel agent, but all said and done she said she spent about $550 bucks with shore excursions. But she's not a big adventurer, so her excursions were just shopping and going to private beaches.

You might try to find a good deal on a cruise or just go to a bed and breakfast for a few days. There are great bed & breakfast in the Texas hill country and wildflower season is right around the corner + there are lots of wineries there. If you want to go there I would suggest flying into Austin or San Antonio and then renting a car.
We are going to Vegas in May for 3 nights, and with airfare and a spa suite, it is about $800 for both of us. That said, we will still have to pay for food, drinks, and entertainment, but you can find much cheaper rooms than we are in too. I agree with Beth above about SW nonstop flights--they are the best option!
Also, Vegas hotel rates drop a ton in the summer (June-August) because it is so hot there, so if you're willing to wait a few months, you can go cheaper.
