Best Pizza in San Antonio?

Hi! We've been in San Antonio since last July, and I have yet to find a pizza place that I absolutely love. I love my pizza, and would love to hear suggestions from you all. Thanks! :-)

Re: Best Pizza in San Antonio?

  • I like Rome's at Bitters & West Ave. and Caparelli's (their locations can vary.) I like the one at Huebner and Bitters. Oh- Little Italy on West Ave. has great pizza! I grew up eating St. Louis style pizza and sadly, nothing down here can compare. hth!

  • I second Romes... there is also a location on DeZavala and I10 and one at Bandera and 1604 (my closest location).

I have found that the Bitters location is my least favorite (I used to live at 1604 and Blanco) the atmosphere is kind of cheesy but the food is still good.

  • LMG - where is there one at Bandera & 1604 - next to what?  I've never seen this place.
  • Outside the loop, technically in Helotes. So for you turn left on Bandera and it is on the left hand side of the road in a shopping center next to Sonic. This location only opened up a 8-9 months ago.

    They have FABULOUS pizza.
  • Florio's in Alamo Heights is great for NY style.

  • was TOTALLY going to say Florio's in AH but J&J beat me to it!

ALSO, Fralo's in Leon Springs is FAB-U-LOUS and oh so fun...totally packed every night of the weekend, live music, etc...but it is an open air spot, so go on a good weather day....
  • I second Little Italy's!  My favorite used to be Boccone's before they changed ownership.  :(

We will have to try the Rome's off of De Zavala.  I'm still looking for good pizza close to us!

  • Since living in MI I am now spoiled on good pizza. We just don't have any that compare. I've had Florio's, Romes, and Fralos and was't too impressed with them. Fralo's of the three would be my pick just for the atmosphere. But I'm honsestly not sure if we have any good pizza places here. We still want to try Goomba's and Dough which are both in the Blanco 410 area. I've heard good things about both...

If I ever become independently wealthy I will open a good pizza chain, lol.

  • We like Goomba's. Mostly b/c its really close and we always have coupons. =) But, they do have really good pizza. Several of our friends agree.
  • Definitely go to Dough-it's on Blanco and 410.  It's Neapolitan style and really good!!

I miss St. Louis pizza, though, having just moved from there. It's an acquired taste, but it's good.

  • Fralo's, hands down. It is sooo good.

  • Thanks so much ladies! I'm excited to have all kinds of new pizza places to try out! We got pizza from Sorrento's in Alamo Heights earlier this week. Yummy! Best I've had so far in SA.
  • Those are some great suggestions. We like Rome's as well but I'm jotting a few more of those down to try.
