Opinion Please

So I purchased this chandelier (link below...sorry do not know how to pip) for the girl's room.  The second link is the bedding I picked out for them.  We are putting a chair rail up in their room.  And beneath the chair rail I am painting brown and above a light pink.

So here, is my question: do you think I should try and find lamp shades to go over the lights in the chandelier? I keep going back and forth on this one.  Please tell me what you think.

Re: Opinion Please

  • I don't think you should put lamp shades over the lights on the chandelier. And I have to say that I just love what you're planning to do so far!!! It's going to be so cute!

  • I can't picture shades on that chandelier.... so I'm agreeing with Kristin.
  • I love the bedding and the chandelier!

I'm not a fan of exposed light bulbs, so I would say if you can find smaller shades I think they would look good, but it's just one of those things for me.

I would suggest putting a dimmer on the chandelier, we have one on our and it came in really handy when Cate was tiny, the bright light in the middle of the night used to bother her, it also helped getting her back to sleep when the lights were dim.

  • I can't imagine shades on them either.  I would do what Caro suggested or have a group of smaller watt bulbs.

  • I don't picture it with shades.  I do love Caro's idea about the dimmer.

  • I LOVE the chandelier and the bedding!  Their nursery is going to be so cute.

I like the idea of shades, but it looks pretty small so you may have a hard time finding the right size shades.  I actually got the shades for my kitchen chandelier from Restoration Hardware, so check there if you decide to get them.  Either way, I think it'll look cute.

  • Thanks ladies.  We already decided that we are putting a dimmer on that light.  The last thing we need is two screaming babies in the middle of the night being kept up by the bright light.  lol.

There is a woman on my local nest board that owns a lamp shade business with her husband.  Maybe I will bring the chandelier into them and see what they have.  They custom make shades so maybe they could make something.

  • You could always put the light up without the shades and then if you change your mind try to find some shades.

I've also seen some little shades in my Ballard Designs catalog.
