QOTD: Besides here with your fellow SSH nesties, what's another favorite website of yours for all things baby?

Re: PCP/TTC/ATP Wednesday
All of our friends are pregnant. Or at least it feels that way. We just found out a couple from K's class is pregnant. This will be their 2nd child since starting the Ph.D program. I'm a tad jealous, very excited, and now hopeful that perhaps K will see that it's possible to be a student and a parent.
QOTD: I don't regularly read anything baby related. I'll cruise Babies R Us or Target now and again. But I'm not the type to start cutting out pictures of what I'd like. My mind will change and K will be a big influence on what we do/get.
Well...
E said he's ready to start trying next month so... I have spent the last week meeting with friends (potential sperm donors) and we have finally decided on one.
I have an appointment with my nero doc (I have epilepsy, controlled) next week to discuss what precautions to take while pregnant.
We sign the legal papers (for donation) the first week in April and i've started pinching even more pennies so that we can put everything back possible for baby. And I gave up my bike (motorcycle), instead we are going to trade the truck in for a 4runner.
And I have lists beyond lists.... things we need during pregnancy, with a newborn, up to a year, after a year. Don't ask.
So yea, that's my big news! You ladies and 2 other friends (A couple) are the only ones who know aside from our donor and us + doctors.
Feel special. I am horrified to tell anyone for multiple reasons.
(Did I mention Im being obsessive about lists :P ....I just spent an hour deciding what our budget will be through January of 2010! No joke.)
So we are hoping to be pregnant by July of this year.
To answer the question at hand I just found this site:
http://www.naturalmomsblog.com/
And am reading it in intervals this morning
No real news from me. My unemployment is setting us back a bit on our saving schedule, but we are cutting costs here and there to stay on track for our existing timeline.
I did netflix The Business of Being Born last week, which I highly recommend. I found it to be really informative, but not preachy or scary (the trailer on the website kind of makes it seems like it might be both - but it's not, I swear!). Just a great documentary that provides some info that you won't get from your average ob/gyn. I really enjoyed and C enjoyed hearing all about it (she wasn't ready to watch yet!
).
QOTD: I love www.momversation.com, www.babble.com (they have some great product reviews in their "Top 5" feature) and www.ohdeedoh.com for my baby fix.

Nothing for us
Timeline seems to keep moving away from us. I'm making a thermometer chart on a big piece of poster board so I can mark off the things on our PCP list. I swear the sucker is growing. My bro and SIL are pregnant though! That's exciting!
QOTD: IndianaBabies (nest) and ohdeeoh and a million lesbians getting pregnant blogs. Speaking of- it's Kendyl's DUE DATE!
We're feeling very nervous/excited/not ready/overly ready/ect about our impending TTC start date (less than 2 cycles away!!). my thursday to-do list includes setting up our first appointment with the midwives and once i speak to them, i'll probably buy some vials of swimmers. I was surprised this week with a much-larger-than-expected year end bonus which is helping it feel like this is just the right time. And the cutest thing is that A keeps bringing up starting a family with the most random people (ie. on the cruise she got into an hour long convo with a couple about our plans to TTC...definitely not her usual topic of choice). Its so nice to have the reinforcement that she's just as excited as i am, and that we're on the same page.
On the foster front its been complete radio silence from our social worker. again. wtf?? i'm holding out hope that we'll begin the trainign at the end of the month but i really have no idea. i'll be pretty crushed if we get passed over again. It sucks to have people ask about how things are going, ect and have nothing to tell them :-/ my parents were over for dinner last night and my mom said she's been buying some things to help us set up the nursery which was really sweet but it also brought some pangs of saddness. I cant help but think of all the children that need loving homes and grandmas like her. ::sigh:: i'm just hoping that when i look back, the timing, and even the delays, will seem fated.
qotd: i dont really browse any baby sites - i get my fix here and on my local board. i have, however, become obsessed with online car shopping - andrea currently drives a 2 door honda civic which is really not gonna work with carseat(s) so i'm dying to buy her an SUV. of course this obession is rediculously premature, but i just cant stop browsing, reading reviews, creating spreadsheets.....
Blogs: Our Growing Family - CT Working Moms

My update is... I'm still pregnant! :-( ?Today is my due date and no baby yet. I've been having false labor off and on for the past week and it is beyond maddening. I'm always sure the baby is right around the corner, and then the contractions just taper off. Last night's contractions were so strong and regular (for a while, at least) that I almost kept M home from work this morning. Now they've almost disappeared altogether so I'm glad I didn't. We'll see what the rest of the day holds. Hopefully I can summon her soon. :-) I have an OB appointment this afternoon and I'm anxious to hear what she suggests for post-term options.
QOTD: I like the glbt boards on babycenter and I also follow a bunch of glbt ttc/pregnancy/parenting blogs.?When we were researching general baby purchases, I was on consumerreports a lot, looking at the various ratings. When we were stocking up on cloth diapers, I spent a lot of time reading reviews on diaperpin. When we were ttc, I was a fertilityfriend junkie. I also recommend the Baby Bargains book. It does a good job of breaking down what you do and don't need and gives lots of economic recommendations for good products. The childbirth information that's been the most helpful so far has been the Hypnobirthing book and course. I can't recommend it in action yet (stay tuned!) but it's made me feel more prepared and confident than anything else I've read.?I know someone already mentioned The Business of Being Born. Orgasmic Birth is another great movie about natural childbirth. Try not to be turned off by the title. It's really not as "fringe" as it sounds.?
Kendyl?
Awww... thanks for the shout out! :-) I spent too long writing my mini-dissertation and we cross-posted. Hopefully I'll have good news to post here and there soon.
Kendyl
?
that's what c drives, and i'm worried about that as well. it's great because she has a pretty long commute and it gets good gas mileage--and is paid off--but we've talked about the possibility of trading it in. we'll see.
so, you all already know we got a bfp. on monday morning c went in for the first beta and it was at 396 (16 dpo), which is great. she went in this morning for a second and we should have the results by tomorrow. the re wants to see at least 800 on this one, so i'm nervously waiting. once she goes over 1000 we'll go back in for an ultrasound to check everything and as long as it all looks good we'll be sent on to our own ob. that we still have to find...
Kendyl...Best of Luck:) That is so exciting!
We went to our first doctors appointment on Friday! It was great. We LOVE our OB and we are so happy we chose her. She spent so much time with us explaining all that she thought we needed to know, answering our questions and concerns and just generally getting to know us. M had her blood work done and an exam. Monday we had our first ultrasound which was a wonderful and emotional experience. It was so great to see the baby and the heartbeat, and just to hear that everything looked good and the baby was the perfect size. It looked like a little kidney bean with flippers:) M is feeling nauseas a lot and gets tired at night but overall she is doing great. Basically most of our friends and family know now and everyone is REALLY excited. Our mom's keep calling us telling us what they have already bought. I have a feeling this baby will be very spoiled.
QOTD: This is really the only site we go on, besides to look at baby gear and furniture for the baby room. I get a lot of information from the books we bought. I also often find myself googling things that pop into my head.
The kids are awesome! They are becoming such fun little people who annoy the crap out of each other. Seriously. They are like Felix and Oscar (from the Odd Couple.) Grayson is soooo Type A and Carter...so NOT.
It starts a lot of arguments between them. We are working on behavior issues (especially for Grayson) and working on meditating with him (sitting still and deep breathing) when he is getting worked up and out of control. So far it is working well.
QOTD: I still go to the GLBT boards on BabyCenter once in awhile. I like the Baby Bargains boards (especially their Bargains forum - they always post great deals which sometimes gets me into trouble!) I go to our Parents of Multiples club boards and a lot of parenting blogs. And we have a board in DC DC Urban Moms that is helpful/crazy.
Had an appointment yesterday. All is good with me and baby g! The baby is now the size of a large shrimp or a peach (depending on what source you use) My blood pressure was good and I have not gained any weight since my 8 week appointment. My belly is def bigger so I think it just moved. That is what happens when you are barfing all the time and making a baby I guess. Heart rate was great on the doppler. We heard it last time at 8 weeks but this time is was really loud and easy to hear. Last time you had to determine what was the baby and what was me. It sounds like a train. Very cool. Loved the Dr. she is young and seems really cool. I am happy with our choice.
my sites that I love are ohdeedoh.com, rate my space nurseries on hgtv and babygizmo.com
i didn't know babycenter had glbt boards! MUST. LURK.NOW.
teehee.
Mostly I obsess over the cost of daycare and browse blogs. I don't look at shopping etc much.
me too!
Update: Last Friday's appointment with my gyn went okay. She FINALLY wrote orders for updated labs, so I can go have them suck my blood whenever I have a chance. (Can you tell I hate needles?)
DW must have the magic touch, because she got the gyn to order a CMV test (which I had asked for before but hadn't been granted), so as soon as I get that done we will pull all the info on our favorite donor (he's cmv+, so we've been waiting to find out my status before spending the $ on the full profile). That said, we both agreed after the appt that we won't bother doing IUIs there but will go straight to the RE. (For one thing, she doesn't monitor when prescribing clomid, which was a bit of a red flag for me.)
The gyn did say she wanted to check my progesterone 8 days after a +opk, so I've been peeing on sticks since the appt. CD32 today plus 5 days of negative opks has me a little down.
QOTD: Cheat on my SSH nesties? Never!! Except that I do read several ttc blogs regularly and yesterday started picking through the articles on www.fertilityplus.org.
IUI #3 gave us the best 2nd anniv. gift ever: 2 babies! (born 03/09/10)
Peanut and Little Man are getting so big! 2 years old already!
finally blogging again at This Will Be: An Adventure
We are in the TWW...again. Testing sometime over the weekend. I hope it worked this time as the insemination was a lot more painful than usual this time around. If it doesn't work we are going to take a break for a cycle as we both are ready for some us time again.
I don't really read other baby websites. I like to look at babies r us every now and then but that's about it other than our sperm bank website.
Nothing big to update. We're focused on on trip to LA next week and then starting to get ready to move when we get back (huge PCP item).
AOTD: I read blogs and sporadically lurk on MDC and BabyCenters LGBTQ boards. I caved about a week ago and also started an Amazon account to keep track of stuff I come across that I think are interesting/useful to remember when the time comes. I'm sure many of them will change, but it was fun.
Nothing too much going on. Today is the last day of Clomid and then to the Dr. again on Tuesday and I'm guessing IUI on Thursday.
