I have questions about Mint.com. I noticed it on the post below and went to visit the website. It is requesting my bank account username and passwords and I was wondering if you utilize this tool.
I'm just scared to put too much personal information on another webiste, but really would like work on a budget for us.
Re: **Mindymo25**
Hey, ya, I was totally skeptical too about putting all of that kind of information on it. But, the site is highly regarded by some pretty big financial resources that I reference a lot, Forbes and Kiplinger's, and ultimately I just decided to trust the system. In Mint's privacy statement they say that they use a 3rd party, called Yodlee, who happens to maintain login information for big time companies that have many more millions of dollars more than me....so I guess in the end, I figured if these top companies were trusting this 3rd party then I would too.
Not sure if that puts your mind at ease any more. But, I can tell you that this site is freaking awesome!! The charts and pie charts that it illustrates on your spending habits are fantastic. It takes a bit of customization in the beginning...ie. it sometimes doesn't recognize the store you went to, but rather the address...so I end up going to google maps and looking up the address to figure out which store it is...if I can't remember the purchase.
Let me know if you have more questions.
This is exactly what we need. We are pretty good about going on the bank and looking to see where our money goes, but when it graphs it out like this it hits hard.
After I posted this I started to read more on it and talked to DH about it. We are seriously thinking about letting them do this for us. Right now we have to wait, because our bank is not on the list. I will report back to you about how bad our spending habits are....:)
