I posted a picture of my *newly decorated* fireplace in my post below for all of you who wanted to see the after. I think the post is called "back from lunch with pics"
Re: update!
I think a larger mirror would look best. The other accessories look good.
EDIT - Pictures are from Hyper Homemaker's blog... and it is the same matle.

This is the mirror that was in my dining room (hung horizontally). The only problem with this is that now I need to find something else to put on that wall in the dining room
I agree with Yocy. I would paint the mirror frame black which is super easy to do. I would also bring in other black framed pictures to add more layers and depth. It still seems empty to me. Do you have any larger framed art work or pictures? If so, add that to the mix to create a "wow factor".
I love what you've done to the kitchen. It looks amazing. My suggestion for the decorative shelves is to store wine bottles. You can get a wine bottle holder that will allow the bottles to lay on their sides. Another idea is to get some cool book ends and select a few nice hard backed cook books to display on the shelf. I'll keep thinking and will let you know if I come up with any other ideas.
This was posted while I was writing. Love, love, love the first picture. That was what I had visioned in my head while I was posting.
thanks jenny
I'm sure I'll be sad to leave it behind when we're ready to move next year...but I'm excited about being able to start all over again with the decorating and renovating with our future **hopefully forever** home in FL.
