So...cabbage was on sale.

I bought a head. What the heck do I do with it? Any good recipe ideas?

Re: So...cabbage was on sale.

  • shred it for tacos.

steam it for st patty's day...not my fav way to eat it though.

    ummmm, that's all I've got.

  • Oriental Cabbage Salad:

    1/2 head of cabbage

    3 scallions

    2 tablespoons dark sesame oil

    2 tablespoons rice wine vinegare

    2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds

Combine the cabbage (I dice it), scallions, oil, and vinegar. Toss well and chill. Add the sesame seeds and toss again before serving.

  • I shred the cabbage, dice the scallions. And I meant vinegar...don't know how the "e" got there Embarrassed
  • I always just steam it and slather on a ton of butter, salt and pepper but some people find that boring.

    You could make coleslaw.?

  • Stuffed cabbage....yum...I need to ask my mom for her recipe, haven't had that in forever!!l

If it's red cabbage I always make Northwood's Inn coleslaw.

If it's green I make a coleslaw my mom makes.  She shreds it, just grates a little onion, adds enough mayonaise and balsamic vinegar to coat.

  • Mmm, just in time for St Patty's!
  • That salad that Irma posted looks good. I've only used  cabbage steamed with corned beef and cabbage.

It's really good. I think I also added some salt to it last time. It's really quick and easy to make. Perfect for someone like me, who hates to cook.

That's how I usually make it Robyn, but we are trying to lose weight. I think that recipe would be counter productive.
