Autism & vaccines

Just FYI since this came up a couple weeks ago . . . I went to a workshop on autism today and learned that the latest research shows that there is absolutely no evidence of vaccines causing autism. The newest research has been very comprehensive and data was collected across different countries, including those on vaccine schedules different from the US. They do still belive that other environmental factors may be linked though. Good to know Smile

  • Thanks for posting this. I have done so much research on this because of all the reports of vaccines leading to autism. Evidence has long supported that there is *no* link between vaccines and autism.

I am scared by all the people that are delaying or foregoing vaccines because Jenny McCarthy told them to. Indifferent

  • Thank you for posting. I wasn't too worried about it, but you never know, with medical data changing on a daily basis these days.

They should get Paris Hilton or some other blond pseudo-celebrity to counter Jenny McCarthy's campaign.

  • thanks.

I hope they find the link to autism soon.

Thank you for this!! It is scary when people listen to people who know nothing about the research. Jenny McCarthy is just finding something to blame for her child's autism. People need to look at the research and all the information and come to their own conclusions.

There is a celebrity speaking against Jenny McCarthy, so to speak. Amanda Pete has been advocating vaccination of children. From what I have heard, she has done it in a way of asking parents to get all the facts before making their decisions.

  • I know I mentioned this recently but my pedi told me that there is much more harm in not vaccinating. She said they had 3 kids die last month (now almost 2 months ago) because their parents chose to not vaccinate. And she said there is no link.

    Word.

Kristy - wow that is so incredibly sad. And to think it could have been avoided.

  • We did the research both for and against. ?And we still chose to delay MMR and varicella for our own reasons. ?Not because Jenny McCarthy says not to. ?Not because of the publicity surrounding vaccines (for and against). ?Not because of what our pedi tells us. ?If/when we decide to give these two vaccines - it'll be our decision and not swayed by any outsiders. ?

    ?

I know there are a lot of strong opinions both ways. ?But with parenting, you have to go with what you feel is best for your family - even if someone else thinks it's wrong (and BOY do they like to tell you!!!). ?
