Hello all,
Well, things have been tough lately and I'm sure some of you have been here before: we need to see a counselor. We've seen one before but she was not very good and I don't think she was very comfortable counseling a lesbian couple.
Do any of you have any advice/referrals?
Thanks so much,
Summer.
Re: Counselor
We found one through the local gay newspaper ads in the back. There were several listed and we called a few to get a feel for them and to see what their availability was.
You might also Google gay therapist and then when you live (or closest big city), that leads to several people when done here (in DC.)
Good luck. We've been there.
First, good for you for identifying the need and being willing to act on it!
We found our couples counselor via the "Find A Therapist" tool on the Psychology Today website. Here's the link:

Look in the "client focus" section of the profile pages, and some will specifically list "gay/lesbian expertise". Don't be afraid to shop around-- call a few and chat with them to get a sense of whether or not they'd be a good fit for you. Best wishes!
