we caught our dog! yay!!!!

And it wasn't too far off from putting a steak under a cardboard box propped up with a stick.

So we stayed up late on Weds night again, with the lights off, just watching out the window for Tai to come in through the gate... but THIS TIME we rigged it! DH ran a rope from the gate handle out toward the lawn, looped it around a crowbar stuck in the grass, and ran it back to the front of the house and in through the mail slot. We stuck two pieces of leftover fence post on either side of the gate to hold it open, and to test it, we yanked on the rope, through the mail slot to see if we could slam the gate shut!

And it worked! and when Tai came back for some food, I let her get down the driveway almost to the garage before I told DH to slam it, and we caught her! HOORAY!!!

She's still really afraid, though. She has pretty much planted herself in Blair's room and just lays there. She'll get up to stretch, and this morning ventured out to eat a little food, but she just went back in and curled up in a ball. She is terrified when we take her outside to pee (We have to pick her up and carry her out, b/c she won't budge.) and she hasn't peed yet, which is worrisome b/c it's been more than 24 hours. She won't relax enough to do her business, but we're working on it.

But we're so glad to have her home!
