Chi vs. Solia flat iron

I was just browsing Folica.co for a new flat iron. ?I was thinking about the CHI because of all the raves on here. ?But then I got to reading about the Solia. ?Anyone have any advice? ?TIA

Re: Chi vs. Solia flat iron

  • I bought a CHI from Ulta, but was dissapointed and returned it. I turned around and bought a Solia from Folica and love it. The CHI doesn't even compare with the Solia. My hair is longish and layered and my layers tend to look frizzy with past flat irons. The CHI was the same old story. My Solia smooths my hair all the way through and quickly to boot. The Solia was also significantly less expensive and came with a free two year warranty.
  • Thanks! ?I actually meant to compare Sedu ?& Solis. ?Good to know that the CHI is not that great.

  • I just got my solia from Folica in the mail this past week.  I love it.  It straightens perfectly without frizzing or frying the ends.  Love it and I paid 72.89 with free shipping.
  • I have a Solia also. They just don't make Chis like they used to. They got their name out there and now they are making a cheaper product. My last Chi only lasted a week! I've had my Solia for over a year and love it.
  • Sedu all the way....it is the only thing that works well on my curly hair and doesn't make it dry or damaged...it is well worth the money.
  • I don't even think the CHI and solia are comparable irons -- CHI is incredibly poorly made and tends to short out after several months. if i remember correctly, the solia has a higher high temp, too. i think the solia is more comparable to the sedu. that said, my hairdresser uses the sedu and i own a solia and i can't tell a bit of difference. i've got very thick, wavy hair and both irons do a great job. solia is less expensive, obviously, but i wouldn't even consider a CHI. worst waste of money! sedu or solia, definitely.

  • Thanks for the tip about a different iron other than the CHI

  • After extensive research, I finally purchased a Ultra CHI sold exclusively at Ulta stores.  It had everything I wanted. It is the only ceramic tourmeline CHI flat iron which is the reason why most people prefer Sedu to CHI.  I love it and will only buy this flat iron again.

This is not me but she does a great job of showing off the iron. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RmBhmdI0vs4
