Wow, Crestwood mall is creepy

DH went to see a movie at Crestwood.  Almost the entire mall was vacant.  WTH happened?

Re: Wow, Crestwood mall is creepy

  • I have no idea what happened there but you are right!  It is creepy!  I went there one day some time ago and entered on the movie side.  Right away I noticed the stores over there were vacant.  It wasn't until I got to the main hallway I saw stores open.  On my last trip with DH it seemed most of that end of the mall was vacant.  Unfortunately we entered on the opposite end that time and looked at the directory and walked to that end only to realize the store wasn't even there.  I thought I saw on the news that they were revitalizing it and opening up more stores but that doesn't seem to have happened.

It's crazy! The only reason I go there is for the Lands End shop at Sears. There are more empty stores than open ones and it just keeps getting worse. I'd much rather go the extra few miles and go to West County.

  • Last night when DH and I were there, we walked the entire mall and saw maybe 20-25 (DH says 25 is being optimistic) stores open.

  • They are planning on completely re-doing the mall back to an outdoor one, so as the leases are expiring they are not renewing them so they have as few tenants to move when they start the project.

  • I can't believe they are making an outside mall!!

Who wants to shop outside with the weather elements?

I know that the leases are expiring BUT they have been losing business for years!

    Hopefully they can rebound!

  • We have an outdoor mall in Lake St Louis, and let me tell you how nice it is to pull up in front of Victoria's Secret or Ann Taylor without having to walk laps around the mall.

Personally, I think this is the direction that malls will be going in the future.  I haven't shopped at Crestwood in years, but it seemed vacant and outdated even ten years ago.
