Hi! My sister lives in Tucson, and my family is flying in this week for her baby shower. I haven't been there in this time of year, and I'm wondering what's in season food-wise. I have one day (really about 1/2 day) to get together a few dishes for her shower, on Friday night.
I also only have Sunday free, as there is also going to be another family event on Saturday afternoon. What should I try to see or do in one day? If I can get all my cooking done early, I might have some time on Friday or Saturday, but not much.
My husband and I are renting a car, so we don't mind driving around. He's never been, and I sold him on this trip as a mini-babymoon, but the Saturday affair was a surprise, and so now we are trying to cram a weekend into one day.
TIA!
Re: Help a D.C. Nestie?
Strawberries are good right now. I made this amazing strawberry lemonade for Easter that was super quick - http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,,FOOD_9936_22537,00.html
IMO - Bashas, AJs and Trader Joes are your best bets for produce. Safeways are usually good too.
As far as things to do, here are a few things you can google: Sonora Desert Museum, Kitt Peak, Saguaro National Park, Mount Lemmon, Colossal Cave, Kartchner Caverns, Tucson Botonical Gardens, 4th Avenue.
Hope that helps - enjoy your stay!
Good luck
