So there's a lot of new development going on here and I want to know who knows what concerning new stuff coming to Tucson and how people feel about it.
Has anyone heard rumors about what stores are coming, new restaurants? Here's some of what I've heard:
1. Cheesecake Factory at Tucson mall (where they tore down the old Macy's)
2. Spectrum of Tucson: Lots of stuff! Harkins Theater, Old Navy, Coldstone, JC Penny, Best Buy - just to name a few. I heard a rumor of an "In and Out" This is at Irvington and I-10 by the way. Stores should start opening in May.
3. Passages of Tucson --- I think that's what it is called. I heard this is going up in Vail and that it is going to be a big shopping destination.
4. Then there's something going on with Ajo and Campbell - I thought it had "Bridges" in its name. The concept is an area where you live, work and play.
5. Finally, we probably all heard about Westcore's deal in Southeast tucson around Rita Ranch. Also in that area a Home Depot is going up.
So that's all I know about - what do you know? How do you all feel about this new development?
I'm excited because there's a lot more new stuff and it makes things more convient. On the other hand, I grew up here and one thing I liked about Tucson was that it was a small city. I'm worried about how this development is being planned. Is the environmental impact being taken into account? What about water? And what about our already congested roads?
Anyway, thought I'd get a discussion going
Re: Who has the scoop on whats coming to Tucson
Good Lord, I wish they would hurry up with some of this stuff. I live in Vail, and there are THOUSANDS of houses and no stores. Our Fry's grocery store is so over crowded you can't move. I would love for just a gym to be near by....I have to drive at least 35 minutes to get to one. I don't why industry has not realized there is a goldmine over here! On the flip side, they are building all of this stuff and don't seem to have ANY PLANS for our roads. I know locals want to keep things small, but you just can't stop the masses from moving here. So, I wish the city/county would just realize and start helping with expansion. There, I've put my two cents in!:o)

I mis-typed. The Spectrum of Tucson shopping center is on I-19 and Irvington - so thats the Southwest side of Tucson. They are also planning a Specturm of Marana.
I feel you about living in a community with a ton of houses and no infrastructure. We live on the other side of the Tucson mountains and its the same way. I just wish they'd build a grocery store that's not more than 7 miles away!
I think the change is happening - I'm getting impatient!
