Do you road bike? I'm thinking about doing the 50 miler for the ABQ Century this year. DH is most likely buying me a road bike for my bday (if we can agree on one...that's a whole 'nother story right now) so I'm kinda tossing the idea around. I wanted to do it last year but didn't have a bike that fit properly...might be a kinda fun GTG.
Damn you Nest for screwing up my siggy!

Re: Hey Diamond...
Sounds like fun
I just got a road bike last fall, so I've been riding a bit this spring, I haven't tackled 50 miles yet though! June 6th... I'll be exhausted because the week before I'm going to be organizing/helping teach a course for about 80 people, but it might be fun
Good luck getting your bike, and let me know when you enter!
I feel peer pressure!!!
Who said peer pressure was bad?
Oh dear. I am game to go as far as I can, which may be far. Although it may not....
I need to make sure Nikhil doesn't have any plans that day, tough....
Ohhhh I'm so tempted, but my exam is on the 3rd. I'm on serious lockdown. Let me see how I do over the next couple of weeks. Would it be ok if I let you know by that Thurs/Fri?
And yes...we need to get Flame out. I get neverous around cars too...when I was test riding bikes just off of Menaul I got off the bike shaking so hard b/c of the cars. My biker friends tell me you just get used to it and being super aware just comes naturally, but I guess it takes some time.
.: Diary of a Recovering Runner :.
Yeah, just let us know, I'm coming down either way. A friend of mine has his son that weekend and I want to hang out with them.
I'm actually afraid of biking in Abq, there are so many more cars than here... What about the Bosque trail? http://www.cabq.gov/openspace/paseodelbosquetrail.html
I only do the paved trails. I think the Bosque trails are the prettiest. ABQ is riddles with what I call teh bike superhighway - 4ft wide paved bike trails of off the main roads.
I can't wait for them to finish the mike blvd from Nob Hill to downtown. They're taking SIlver and Mountain and putting in dedicated bike lanes and lowering car speed limits. Then I might actually brave a real road again.
Yeah, I prefer the Bosque too....nice and flat.
I was paying attention driving around today and people just drive nutso. I know the city is making an effort to be more bike-friendly, but it still freaks me out. It's the drivers that need to be aware and respectful (I realize it goes both ways, I've seen cyclist do stupid things too)...but driving your giant Hummer in the bike lane is not cool.
.: Diary of a Recovering Runner :.
Hummer does not equal bike lane. My pet biking peev is the folks who think that rules of the road don't apply to bikes. The number of bikers who run red lights kills me!!!!
I can't make this weekend. I forgot my niece has a cheer competition on Sat afternoon and my nephew has a wrestling competition Sunday. So the weekend is dedicated to hanging out with the 12 and under set.
.: Diary of a Recovering Runner :.
Can I just say that I would SO much rather be out on a bike ride with you guys right now? I'm STILL in my PJ's (it's 1.41 pm), un-showered, and have not moved away from the computer besides the 30 mins I took a couple of hours ago for lunch. Yes, I'm disgusting, but I found that if I get myself all done up and changed I'm more likely to leave the house and not study.
2 more sections left in this chapter and then the entire book will be done! I'd guess about 2 more hours of questions and then I can start practice tests. Hooray.
