Gown Preservation

Hi! I was wondering what y'all did to preserve your gowns. I've heard of WedClean, but didn't know what or how to do it. What are your opinions? Thanks!!

  • I had mine cleaned and preserved at TnT cleaners in Harvey.  I think it was relatively cheap too.  My dress had beading on it and they did a fantastic job.  The only thing is that it took about a month since they are a family owned and operated cleaners and everyone in the neighborhood brings their stuff there.  But it wasn't like I was planning on wearing it again, so I didn't mind the wait.  The cleaners is on 1st Avenue in Harvey, BTW.

  • I also used Wedclean. You just go on their website, order the cleaning. They send you the box and some stickers to put on your gown where you know there are stains or things spilled. They did a great job on my dress, and the box they use is great for storage.

  • I used WedClean, too. And I have some sad news (and probably my fault). My dress is ruined. I just opened up the box to try on the dress - don't ask me why - and my dress is all yellowed. Like nasty yellow, too. I think what happened is after the hurricane, I had my dress on the top shelf in my closet and we bought another house and moved. Well, I left my dress in the other closet at my other house and I just went over to get it this past weekend and it was a mess. The other house is under renovation and we had the a/c off for the summer, so there was no temp control in there. I know you gals will be more careful than I, but I wanted to let you know what happened - just in case!!!!
  • I used a company off of Airline.  Sam's or something like that.  If you ride on Airline Hwy, b/w Causway and Cleary they have signs.
  • I still haven't done mine yest, but that place by Sams is Russell's.  It was recommended by Liberto & Metarie Cleaners, although Libertos also said you shouldn't preseve it, said to do something else.
  • I don't know about preservation either. I need to do it soon before my dress is ruined. Before I get married the lady who put the crappy bustle in my dress (Ana's alteration - sucks!) got black dirt all over my beautiful white and tea rose wedding gown. I took it to Russells and they fixed it and cleaned it (with less than a week til my wedding). But it looked perfect, better than new. It was expensive but they were worth it. I'll stay tuned about the preservation though!
