Omaha nestie coming to New Orleans
Hey ladies! I am headed to New Orleans w/ my fiance this Wednesday for a work convention. We're staying until Sunday at the Sheraton on Canal Street.. I'm going to have a lot of free time to myself and I was wondering what you suggest? It will be my first time there and I'm just curious as to what its like! Any suggestions?

Well, it's raining like crazy now and is expected to continue until Tuesday and then get much colder. For New Orleans, colder is like the 40's.
The Sheraton on Canal is great and puts you within walking distance to the French Quarter. I would suggest doing all the tourist-y things that most travelers do so you can leave feeling like you took in the whole experience. With it being near Halloween, you may want to take a haunted history tour. And you must get some coffee and beignets at Cafe Du Monde. I'm sure the hotel has maps and fliers for all these places. Also don't forget to visit Bourbon Street and have a Hurricane at Pat O'Brien's. Toss in the French Market, the Aquarium, maybe a paddle boat ride up the Mississippi River, Harrah's, and a trip to the D-Day Museum (if you're interested) and you will have covered some major ground.
