I see you mentioned that your husband skateboards.  We are trying desperately to teach PC how to skateboard. He gets on it for treats, is fine if I push it, but I am having a very hard time to get him to push off on his own. He's only done it a couple of times where he pushes off and gets back on. Since I don't skateboard and would probably break some bones if I tried, does your DH have tips of how we can get him to start pushing off and not just stand there?  Here's PC on his fave toy:

  • i'll ask him if for tips when he gets home.  Big Smile  there's a pro skater named rob whose bulldog, meaty, rides a skateboard!  it's so funny to watch!

when cali was younger, mh would put her on his board & push her around the living room.  he was so excited to teach her, but came to the realization that her legs would never be long enough for her to do it & not get hurt.  so he's waiting to teach the next family addition.  sadly, it won't be for awhile.

i thought i saw porkchop at the beach sunday, but remembered that you weren't taking him to large populated dog areas until he turned one.  mh's still looking forward to meeting your little guy.  i always show him the pics & links you post of porkchop.  bulldogs are one of the breeds he's fallen in love w/ & is on our list of dogs to learn more about.

  • We took him to Coronado for the first time on Sunday. Which beach did you go to? I like the Del Mar dog beach much better.  We are avoiding get togethers where there will be lots of dogs. I no longer go to the dog park every night and instead take him for walks around the neighborhood.  I think he came in contact with 3 dogs at the beach yesterday, so it was fine.  He seems to focus only on himself and the water at the beach, which is why it's a good place to take him, whereas at the dog park, he is all over every dog there. I'm going to take him to Del Mar on Sunday. Haven't been there since early February, so I figured I'll give it a try before the dogs have to be leashed there.  It just sucks that people bring contagious dogs to dog parks. I found out someone had a dog with sarcoptic mange at a local dog park here not too long ago, and I am very glad I stopped going.   If you guys are at Del Mar on Sunday, maybe we'll see you!

  • we do go to del mar every sunday.  it always varies what time we get there.  we're never there early, usually sometime after 2pm.  cali has so much fun, that we've stopped going to the dog parks.  she's never really interacts w/ other dogs, but does at the beach.  she's also not to crazy about other small dogs.  she'd rather say hi to the big, big friends.

  • She is so cute! And the pittie is gorgeous!  We are definitely going to be there on Sunday, at 1.  I hope we see you there! Look for the hyper Bulldog with the surfboard collar running through the water!  If he spots you, he'll run over to say hi because he assumes all humans love him and wants to be pet by all.

  • thanks!  we think she's cute too.  we'll try to get there @ 1pm.  cali's easy to spot; she's usually the smallest & only yorkie.  that said, there was quite a few chihuahuas yesterday.  i'll be on the look out for a surfboard collar on a handsome bulldog!  :)
