White bedding...

What are your opinions on all white bedding? White sheets, comforters, bed skirt, shams...etc.

I am about to re-do our master bedroom white pale blue walls, and all white bedding. If you have white bedding do you like it? What are some pros and cons?

Any stores online with bedding you recommend?

 TIA

Pics would help as well!

Re: White bedding...

  • I had all white bedding in my apartment.  I liked it because white bedding always look classic and I think it is inviting.

The big con is that it shows dirt very easily.

  • we have all white bedding in all of our bedrooms, and then just a color quilt for each bed (different colors for each room). Some people might find it boring but it works best for us. The two main reasons we decided to do it that way were:

    1) we have a dog who sleeps in the bed with us, and it's nice to be able to wash and bleach pretty much everything.

    2) DH gets very hot when he sleeps, so it's nice to have the different layers to adjust. We have the sheet, a woven cotton blanket, a white coverlet, and then a heavier white quilt, plus the color quilt if we need it. All the guest beds have the same layers.?

All the sheets are from BB&B, and I've found most of the quilts at Marshall's, BB&B, etc?

  • i love the look of it, but it is just not practical for me.

we have a cat that lays on the bed all the time and the hair would show on it.  i also put lotion on while sitting on my bed and every now and then it will touch the bedding.

  • I don't know about the pros & cons myself, but I am doing this in my guest room too. I think it's light and airy and I think it is really something people are doing more often.
  • We have mostly white bedding in our master bedroom.  I was worried that it would look dirty easily, but it really doesn't.  Of course, we don't have pets!

  • We have white with black piping. It's the Chandler bedding from Crate and Barrel, though they don't have it anymore.

We really like it and it was staying clean until we got the dog.

It's not terrible now but I've noticed two small stains on it since we got her, and it doesn't help that she's run across it a time or two with muddy paws! I just pull it off quick and run it through the wash with some vinegar and we've been lucky so far!

  • i think white bedding is really pretty but our cats like to sleep, shed and throw-up on our bed all the time. we have a nice teal and brown bedspread with a pattern that is very easily laundered.
  • I have white bedding with some brown stitching on it. I personally think it looks very classic and clean. It's like sleeping on a cloud in my room, because I have black furniture with pale blue walls (no pics, sorry). It's so light and airy feeling. The fitted sheet and top sheet do show dirt (and body sweat), but it's pretty easy to clean with bleach. The comforter is white too, but since we use a top sheet, that fabric doesn't touch our skin too often, so I only wash the comforter every month or so. We have a dog, but we never let him on the bed, so that isn't a problem. I'm just so moody, that I have different duvets/quilts that will easily go with white sheets if I want a different look.
  • We have all white, cream and french linen. I bring in seasonal color with quilts and throw pillows when I feel like it. It's easy peasy and I love the fluffy, cloud like look. We have a Pomeranian who sheds in summer like you wouldn't believe, but it's easy to just roll over the bed witha  pet hair roller from the nightstand drawer and close the door during the day.
  • I just got all white kissing pleat comforter, shams and bed skirt. I love it, and even though the cats get hair all over it, I just wisk my lint roller over it and it's fine again. I got the whole set at Target for $70.

  • Ms. Mam I love your bedroom pic! It's exactly like I imagine I want mine to look! Thanks for posting the info and pic!
  • I love all white decor - especially bedding - but I went with a modern style from DKNY - it perfect for my soho loft style - thoughts - http://www.home-decorating-co.com/dkny-willow-white-bedding.html
  • We have all white bedding with light blue walls! Our duvet does have a grey stripe border, but that's it. I love how it looks--very cozy and luxurious. Maybe I'll take some pictures when the room isn't a mess (I cleaned out the closet yesterday so there is stuff everywhere).
  • We have all white bedding.  We love it. But we don't have animals.  Be bought everything at Target.
  • I have pink color bedding in my room, pink is the color for girls
