Re: Please tell me everything about Utah.
Do you like it? I grew up here I like it I am also LDS aka Mormon
Is it safe? It is a very safe area different areas in Salt Lake differ
How are the schools? Schools are good
Is it diverse? Some areas in salt lake are very diverse not so in Logan aka Cache Valley and Brigham
What other cities do you like? No preference
What is it like being a non-Mormon in Utah? Cant answer that sorry. Everyone has there own oppinion
Please tell me everything you can about your state.
Utah biking, hunting, fishing, rock climing, sking, boating, shopping and a new IKEA that opened today in Draper which is South of Salt Lake
What area are you moving to??
I hope some of my answers have helped.
I like it okay, but miss the beach, where I grew up.
It's as safe as anywhere else.
Don't have kids, but Utah has a reputation of having a pretty poor education system. The University of Utah is a very good school as far as college education.
Diverse....no I wouldn't say so. I grew up in the San Francisco greater area, so I've gone from one extreme to the other.
Being non-LDS isn't that bad here, and it varies depending on where you live. Salt Lake proper is a relatively diverse area and I would guess the greatest percentage of the population there is non-LDS. Where I live, most things are closed on Sundays, and most of my neighbors are LDS. The Mormon church is definately a presence in the state, but they aren't overtly trying to convert you if you aren't interested.
Do you like it? Love it!
Is it safe? Very
How are the schools? Good
Is it diverse? Not really. But moreso than suburbs further away from the city.
What other cities do you like? Sandy, West Jordan, South Jordan, Draper
What is it like being a non-Mormon in Utah? Depending on where you live, either all your neighbors are mormon, or almost none. Where I live it's about half and half, but it's totally normal/fine being nonmormon.
Do you like it? Yes, I like Salt Lake. When I first moved to Utah, I lived in Layton which was ok, a lot more influence by mormons than Salt Lake (we are not mormons).
Is it safe? Yes, for the most part. Like any other city it has it's shady parts.
How are the schools? I have been pleased with both the Granite and Jordan school districts.
Is it diverse? Salt Lake valley is pretty diverse, but anything outside of it either north or south is influence more by mormons, it's not bad though.
What other cities do you like? I love Sandy, Holliday, Sugarhouse, S and W Jordan.
What is it like being a non-Mormon in Utah? When I found out we were moving to Utah (military) I was worried and I had heard horror stories about being non-mormon in a mostly mormon state. It did take a little getting used to things being closed on Sundays, but now it's not a big deal. I have lived here for 8 years and love it. The Salt Lake area is great, there is a ton of things to do outdoors, great bands to see, there is a great art scene and pretty much anything else you want to do. I love that even though it's a pretty big city, it doesn't seem like it. Our neighbors are mormon and they sent over the missionaries, we just told them we're not interested and they have left us alone. So it's really not something to stress about too much.
Good luck!
