Hello Ladies of Kentucky!
I need some suggestions on wedding receptions, catering and hotels in the Lexington area (preferably inexpensive). My fiance and I live in Cincinnati, but he is from Lexington. His family and some of my family live in and around Lexington. So, we decided to have our reception there. We are having the wedding in Hawaii and want to come back and celebrate with our friends and family. We're trying to stay within a budget, but have some cool ideas so far. I've looked at the Kentucky Horse Park's website, and that looks like it would be fun! The wedding and reception will be October, 2008 - So, we'd like to have the reception on a Saturday, stay in a nearby hotel and invite everyone to join us at Keeneland the next day.
Anyone have any good, casual, inexpensive recommendations for venues, catering or hotels?
We would really appreciate the help!
Thanks!
Tara

Re: Lexington Reception
The Bell House is a beautiful venue downtown. It is owned by parks and rec and I think it rents for $75/hour. There is also the Bodley Bullock House. It is a nice venue. I think you reserve it through the Jr. league. Personally, I think the Bell House is by far prettier.
the parks website is www.lfucg.com/parks
GL!
Are you looking at indoor or outdoor receptions? The beginning of October in KY can be warm (we were married on October 7 and had an outdoor ceremony), plus it's the driest month of the year. We were married at Talon Winery, which has some beautiful spots for a reception (indoor and outdoor). We also looked at The Kentucky Theater, The Headley-Whitney Museum and Buffalo Trace Distillery (near Versailles).
I hope that helps! I'll post more as I can think of ideas - DH and I have been to MANY weddings in Lexington!
I would love to see your pictures, CJ2006! My e-mail address is tdub81@gmail.com
Thanks to everyone for the advice! I really think the Horse Park would be beautiful and my fiance loves that idea!
