Anyone 'done' the Bourbon Trail?

Give me your feedback, please!

For the past two years, DH and I have been meaning to go to the Maker's Mark Distillery, and I thought about making a full day out of it and visiting all the distilleries along the Bourbon Trail.  I definitely think it's a must for KY-ians (well, those who enjoy bourbon), and I'm ashamed I haven't done it yet!

Re: Anyone 'done' the Bourbon Trail?

  • Makers is a great tour.  I, personally, would break it up a little more.  Stop in Ghetsemene (sp?) at the monastery.  They have food products to sell (famous nation wide) and then Bardstown (possibly stay in a B&B there).  There is a lot to see in Bardstown.  It's one of my fav places.

About Makers - see if you can find out when they are dipping.  They don't do it everyday, so you definitely want to be there when they do.

  • I haven't done the Bourbon Trail.. but if you stop in B-town as PP suggested.. definitely eat at the Old Talbert Tavern... they usually have live music on the weekends in the bar area..
