Cats~TN game

CJ2006, what did you think?  after i responded to your post, i found out about patterson.  i was SO sad to learn he's out for the rest of the yr.  i fully expected to get blown out of the water by TN b/c of patterson's absence, but was pleasantly surprised to watch us only lose by 3 points.  stevenson totally stepped up to the plate and the Cats played well.  do you think we still have a chance to make the tourney?

Re: Cats~TN game

  • I was very scared when I first learned of Patterson - in fact, I think I yelled, sh!t - because he's our go-to guy on the inside, and he's strong enough (and a good athlete) to go up against most post players in the SEC.  That said, I couldn't have been more pleased with the way they played at Tennessee.  I got teary eyed when I read the Sports section this morning - they played their hearts out and I couldn't have asked for anything more (execept for a "W"!).  Personally, I think Tennessee is overrated; it should have been a blow out yesterday.  The number one team in the nation shouldn't loose, or even have a close game, to little ole' "talentless" UK.  I don't care how emotional the lose to Vandy earlier last week was.

I do think they still have a chance at making the tournament - because they have beaten the two best teams in the SEC (UT and Vandy) at home, and on a neutral court (well, it's really Rupp of Atlanta!) I think it's very much anyone's game.  Plus, I think Tennessee is going to lose to Florida this week which would tie UK for the lead in the SEC east.  That would get them a bye the first day (very important with that many games in just 4 days) and I think a boost in confidence for the SEC tournament.  I think their chances in the NCAA tournament are very much going to depend on how the SEC tourney goes.  Even though UK lost to Tennessee, we still went up in the RPI.

It's going to be a very interesting SEC tourney this year!  I'll be glued to the TV, for sure!  [;)]  What are you thinking about the post-season possibilities?

    (Sorry that's so long!!)
