Question for Teachers

Hi!  I am working on applying to Wentville Schools, Fort Zumwalt, St. Charles City, and Francis Howell Schools.  I have done the MOREAP application and I am working on sending my resume, cover letter, etc. to the HR department for each of those districts.  I was wondering if I should also send my resume to the principals at individual schools?  Thanks for your advice!!

Re: Question for Teachers

  • I wouldn't send them to the principals of the schools unless you personally know them.  I'd put your application on moreap, and then watch the district websites for openings.  Each district has their own unique way of hiring.  I would widen your search as well.

Many of the districts have already held their career fair, so you'll have to watch the district websites, moreap and such.

    Good luck!
  • I work for Francis Howell, and I know that the principals cannot do anything about hiring without going through district office first.  HR screens applications, then sends them to the schools, then the principals start the interviews.  I think the other districts are the same.
The best thing to do is keep your application on MOREAP updated and check the district's websites on a regular basis for new openings.  There will probably be a bunch of openings posted late May/early June as contracts are being returned and ppl are retiring at the end of the year.

  • Thanks, ladies.  Every region seems to have a different way of handling all of this; just wanted to check since it was definately an advantage to send them out to principals in GA.  :)
  • Only send your application to the HR departments.

  • I taught in Parkway for 2 years, and have taught in other states, too.  It's always sad to walk through the office and see some poor person's cover letter & resume in the recycle bin b/c the principal can't really do anything with that.
