I wish you were moving to STL now, then you could buy my house!  I love living in the city.  I'm kind of bored by suburbs, and love the culture of the city.  The only bad thing about the city is if you have kids--the schools are terrible, unless you are willing to send your kids to a private school (for us, this would definitely be an option).
As far as my realtor goes, we are using CB Gundaker because our friend, who is our realtor, is through them.  I like the company, though, and would probably go with them regardless.  It seems like the majority of listings in St. Louis are through them.

  • Hey - thanks for your reply!  Good luck on the sale on your house - it is very cute so hopefully it will sell fast.  I am just amazed at the prices of houses in St Louis.  I mean for the price of your house in Richmond, VA I could get pretty much nothing - which is why we still rent here!  But I am sooo excited about the possibilty of buying a house there with a mortgage less than we pay rent now!  Plus a lot of the houses in the city area look old - which I love.  Old houses have so much more personality!
Yeah my husband and I are more city people - we used to live in the subarbs about 3 years ago - but since we moved into the city - we will never go back.  We just love being able to walk to bars, restaurants, events...
No kids yet - so that is not a concern for me.  By the time we have kids in grade school who knows where we will be.
Thanks for the info about CB Gundaker - I have spoken with them and they seem very nice.
We are actually coming out to visit next week on the 16th!  So I am excited - any cool spots in the city we should hit.  We are staying at the Chase Plaza - but are totally clueless as for what to do when we get there!
So where are you guys moving?
  • The Chase is a great place to stay.  You'll be in the heart of the Central West End, which is one of the bar/restaurant districts in St. Louis.  It's not the biggest area, but there are some great things in that area.  Drunken Fish is a sushi/seafood restaurant.  Sub Zero is a great vodka bar, and Brennan's is a great wine bar.  ~Scape also is in that area and has good food.

We're moving further west (still in MO) for dh's job.  I'm so sad to leave the city:(,
