Help with flowers

This is DH first spring in our 1st house. I'm so excited about planting flowers, but I don't know when I can. I got some Lilac bushes, is it too early to plant them? TIA

If you haven't gone to the Gardening board  on here you might wanna try there. Make sure you tell them you are in Zone 5b. I am all new to gardening so I am no help, but I do go there with my questions. If I don't get an answer, I generally just call a local nursery.  Dr. Loretta is really nice and generally has some great advice.

I'm not the best when it comes to gardening, but I quickly figured out that I can't kill perennial bulbs.  I started planting them 2 1/2 years ago when we bought the house, and each fall have planted more.  I added a few roses and some coreopsis last year, so we'll see what happens with them this summer
