Holy Flood!

So, where are my Fenton girls?  My street empties out into George Winter Park and i'm about 6 houses into the subdivision from the park.  Needless to say, i can see the water from my front door!  It's craziness!! We had houses in our subdivision that back the park that had to sandbag Friday. Thankfully it didn't get that high, but it was about 5 feet from their houses!  Old 141 is closed into Old Town Fenton, so we have to go up through the Bluffs to get out.  Also, can't wait for the Monday commute w/141 closed.  I normally take 141 to Chesterfield, but it sounds like it's going to be closed until at least Wednesday.  270 is going to be a nightmare!! I'm actually thinking about changing my hours this week to get around it. ugh!

I'm going to be saying to my son..."back when the flood of 2008 happened...." LOL!  I remember 1982, more than 93, because my gpa brought me to the Union Walmart where you could only see the top of the letters.  it's was crazy as a 6 year old! :-)

Hope everyone is dry and safe!

Re: Holy Flood!

  • I was wondering if you were in the back part of the subdivision or front. We are safe, not where near being able to be flooded. But I know it is nuts around here. And just so you know it now takes DH about 1.5 hours to get to work instead of 40 minutes with all the closures. So you will need to adjust your times. H takes Bowles to 44 to 270 to Olive.

Oh, my cousin apparently just bought a house in your subdivision (GL with that..lol)
  • We went at took pictures of 141/44 on Saturday and today the intersections was totally open - yahoo!  That's the way I take DS to daycare.  I feel so bad for everyone that was affected though.  I did't come to STL until 1994 so I missed all of the "fun" in 1993.
  • I couldn't believe 141 was open this morning.  My sister came up late last night (midnight) and said 141/44 was still flooded.  Then 6 hours later it was wide open and clean like nothing ever happened! wow!  All the roads around here are totally fine too.  it's really crazy.  i feel really bad for the businesses i saw today carrying out everything inside their building.  i'm just glad no one was hurt!

Congrats Cassie on your new baby on the way! i think i missed that earlier!  What, is your cousin crazy?  LOL.  Oh lord what house should I run by while out for a walk? LOL

  • I'm glad to hear everyone (so far) is safe, I hope it stays that way!!!  Good luck!!!
  • I wouldn't say crazy (should I even say it on here) but very self centered. And they can NEVER do anything wrong, everything is someone elses fault. But you know I am related so maybe that is why I have this opinion.

I am not sure where in the subdivision, but apparently the water was in their back yard.
  • I took a lot of pictures Saturday morning.  I live in Arnold, so I stopped by Springdale pool on 141, then I went into old Fenton to get pics near Gravois Grill.  Took pictures from Fenton Post office.  Then I drove around the road block on Old 141 and took pics by Andre's West, then on 30 near West Watson by the driving range.  That is where I got the best pics, there and the Phillips 66 gas station at 44 and 141.  I got some great video of the water bubbling up out of that storm drain there.  It was crazy.  But it all went down very quick.  There will need to be a lot of cleanup though.  I know when it started snowing on Easter I thought, great, that is all people want to see, more precipitation.
